There are two kind of Directories, free and paid. Ones are just paid, others just free and some of them accept both kind of submissions.

Getting our site listed in directories will bring us two results, traffic and backlinks. What we need is traffic and directories will send it but at the same time, our site will be indexed faster thanks to the backlinks we’re receiving which will result in a climb in the organic positions which in turn will mean more traffic.

For fast traffic we will take a look at paid ones but we won’t forget free directories because the sum of them will get us good SEO rankings.

Research for Directories in Alexa and Google and only pay for the ones that will be worth your money. Look for low rank in Alexa and high PR in Google.

Start submitting to Dmoz, which fills Google’s directory. It’s free and can take a lot of time to get your site approved but it’s worth to try it.
