If a person asked me for a second businesscard, I would be happy. It means the card means enough to them that they would openly admit that they have misplaced it.

There is no shame in asking for a new one. It shows appreciation. I totally disagree with Syndie on that one.

To hell with not asking for another one, if someone lost my card I’d happily send them ten more if it means I get their business.

well although i think what she said is true in Asian countries i think Americans are way more laid back and i dont think its the international “Protocol” maybe for CEO’s and board of directors…..but thats not true for normal ppl with average jobs……if i did that ppl might think i am weird….who has time to remember all this…funniest part was ” you lost their face” !!

How the hell do we get to these perverted social norms? How stunted does a person’s logic have to be to forget that business cards are, and have always been, a standard way to quickly exchange information in an easily retained form? Shouldn’t they only warrant the same cultural etiquette as any exchange of personal information?

Please remember that even in the US business cards are seen as an extension of a person and if you carelessly cram it into you back pocket and mangle it then it gives the impression that you don’t care what they think of you, and therefore have no respect for them or the postion that they hold or the company that they represent.
So you may not actually be “sitting on their face”, but you will come across as being crass and a slob.

So even though this is very formal, it’s not silly.
